Ancient Ambush was my first attempt at making a single player experience. Using Far Cry 5's Arcade editor I had access to a limited version of the Dunia engine. I created the level to work as a tiered outpost. The player pushes through the outskirts, picking off guards and has to deal with the densely packed camp site.
Three large groups of enemies spawn if the player alerts the guards. Two from within the camp and another from the player spawn, aggressing from the players flank.
"Loud" Critical path Gameplay
The player exits the prison to the raised vantage point. After assessing their options, they use the mortar to eliminate enemies clumped into groups. The cover on the ridge is all destructible forcing movement into the lower labyrinth of bunkers for intense close-range firefights.
Once 15 enemies are defeated the player is flanked by hostile prisoners pushing them further out of position. Low on ammo, they then push around the enemies and use their own emplacements against them.
"Quiet" Critical path Gameplay
The player exits the prison to the raised vantage point. After assessing their options they move down into the ruins, dispatching of guards on the edge of the camp. Once the ruins are clear they search the area for better equipment.
Using their bow and silenced SMG they can flank the majority of the enemies and silently infiltrate the base. From here they work from the inside out disabling alarms and killing small clusters of enemies.
